VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
With the Burnham Bicentennial just five years away, we are seeking volunteers who are interested in forming a planning committee for the Bicentennial Event. We look forward to the celebration of our town's history and hope you will consider becoming involved to make our event one to be remembered!

PLANNING BOARD / APPEALS BOARD

Both the Planning Board and the Appeals Board are asking if anyone is interested in serving on either Board. If so, please contact the Town Office at 948-2369 or email burnham1@uninets.net


GENERAL ASSISTANCE NOTICE

The Municipality of Burnham administers a General Assistance program for the support of the poor. Pursuant to Title 22 MRSA sec. 4305, the municipal officers have adopted an ordinance establishing that program. A copy of that ordinance is available for public inspection at the town Office - 247 South Horseback Road (Also, available for inspection is a copy of the State's General Assistance Statutes, as copies of the law are made available to the municipality by the Maine Department of Human Services).

Persons who wish to apply for General Assistance may do so at the Twon Office during the following times:

Monday - Thursday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Friday: 8:00 am to 2:00 pm

The municipality's General Assistance Administrator must issue a written decision within 24 hours of receiving an application. 

The Department of Human Services' toll-free number (to call with questions regarding the General Assistance Program) is 1-800-442-6003.

This notice is pursuant to Title 22MRSA Sec. 4304-4305.
